Description

:bulletred: THE CRASH COURSE :bulletred:

Name: Zin
--Nicknames: Zinny, Z
Age: 110 (Looks 19)
Date of Birth: 30 May 1903
--Astrological Sign: Gemini
--Zodiac: Rabbit
Gender: Male
Height: 68kg (150lbs)
Weight: 173cm (5'8)
Species: Godfairy
-- Subspecies of gothic fairy, NOT to be confused with nature fairies.

:bulletred: SKILLS :bulletred:

:bulletgreen: Grant 3 Wishes
--May not alter free will, laws of nature, life, death, etc.
--May refuse service upon first wish, not after that.
--Cannot grant ANY wishes for himself or other Godfairies. If someone else wished something for him, that's a different story, but in no way can Zin influence the decision making process or even hint at what he would like.
--NOTE: I'm not here to godmode. Zin is relatively new at all of this, so he's probably going to mess up 95%+ of the spells he creates. He's pretty terrible as a godfairy thus far. See his HISTORY for examples. And even then, the bigger the wish, the more dangerous it is to fulfill. I use this gift/curse as a plot tool device, not as a way for him to get what he wants. He pretty rarely gets what he wants. :D
:bulletgreen: Glamour
--Can disguise portions of his appearance. Limited to hiding or adding on features; he can't disguise himself as a monkey or an inanimate object. But he can change parts of his appearance or make people think twice about whether they really saw him or not. This is the only portion of magic he can willingly use on himself, and it's the one and only aspect of his magic Zin is somewhat gifted in. Sometimes.
:bulletgreen: Slight Longevity
--Live for about 2,000 years
--Body can withstand more damage than a human's can
--Not many god-fairies make it to full adult status or power. Things...happen...
:bulletgreen: Endurance and flexibility
--higher than a human's, lesser than some other creatures
--his species traded speed and strength for long term endurance and flexibility

:bulletred: WEAKNESSES :bulletred:

:bulletgreen: Allergy to Iron and Silver
--burns skin upon touch
--poisonous to consume / come in contact with blood stream
--lowers healing rate / all abilities
--Zin carries antidote pills just in case.
:bulletgreen: Cold
--Extreme cold can make this subspieces of fairy fall into a slumber than can last hours, days, years, or forever. (Otherwise known as a coma.)
--Moderately cold temperatures lowers his abilities and concentration level.
--For this reason he tends to bundle up.
:bulletgreen: Incapable of Lying
--Literally. He won't be able to talk or write something if he knows it's untrue or a lie.
--There are small ways to get around this. For example, he may voice an opinion as a fact. Even so, he must honestly believe it to be true, or he'll be rendered temporarily mute.
:bulletgreen: True Name
--If one were to learn a fairy's true name, they could gain aspects of the fairy nature...such as healing powers, longevity, slight wish power, etc. The fairy, on the other hand, would start to die slowly as their powers are taken.
:bulletgreen: Low Speed and strength
--as previously stated, this species traded speed and strength for endurance and flexibility over evolution

:bulletred: PERSONALITY :bulletred:

Zin is a 150% sort of person in everything. There can be no containing his enthusiasm for almost everything he encounters.

At first glance, Zin is care-free and fun-loving, the sort of person who's not afraid to cause mischief or take risks just in the name of a good laugh. Pranks are his calling. For the most part, he's rather light-hearted and easy going, insults rolling off him like water against stones. However, a competitive streak and sense of pride keep him from backing down from any direct challenges. Not the sort of person to think things through, Zin moves through life impulsively and by sheer force of will and personality. At best, he's loud, friendly, and terribly good fun. At worst, he's meddlesome, nosy, and unpredictable.

Zin doesn't love learning; he COVETS learning. For this, he'll show great reverence and respect to someone who can teach him new things. Indeed, he takes the term geek to a whole new level, happy enough to sit in rapt attention in all of his classes, plaguing his mentors with streams of never ending questions, hoarding all the books he can find (especially the encyclopedias)...you get the picture. It's borderline obsessive.

In fact, with most everything, Zin is single minded to a fault. It's not easy to shake him off something he's started. If dragged away from a task before he can complete it, Zin may become disoriented and uncharacteristically confused in other aspects of his life. Once he devotes himself to something, he'll see it through, for better or worse. He does not know the meaning of “letting go” or “giving up.”

On the negative side...like most of his kind, Zin is prone to unpredictable mood swings, and rarely does he offer an explanation for the abrupt changes in behavior. His generosity can be boundless in one moment, and completed shuttered off the next. Earnest and forthcoming to one stranger, hostile and judgmental with another.

And no matter how loud and friendly he is, Zin is an onion. He's actually rather private, holding back many secrets, resisting people who try to peel back the layers too deeply. His number one defense mechanism is to focus on other people and get them talking about themselves, which keeps them from asking too many deep questions about his life. And that's the way Zin would rather keep it.

:bulletred: HISTORY :bulletred:

Really, what he did wasn't THAT bad. Well, not as bad as it COULD have been. Well...no one died.
So he threw one minor, teeny-tiny temper tantrum. Big deal- it was bound to happen. He's free to help the rest of the world with all of their problems and he can't even fix the minor ones in his own life? Of course that brews up some proper teenage angst when the universe is set up like that!

This logic hasn't worked well with his parents. In fact, this temper tantrum has had several unintended results just in general.

1. He meant to turn the human into a donkey, not a frog. Snap. It would have been much more cosmically ironic if he'd managed to turn the idiot into a donkey.
2. Due to the fact he's not advanced enough to reverse spells, the man is now forever stuck as a frog. His parents have an issue with this, which now means he has an issue, even though the man really did have it coming. Hell, the human even wished for it (although Zin may have used some selective hearing as far as that's concerned). And he's only a frog. It's not like Zin trapped him as a mayfly. But you try explaining that to the Royal Court. Especially when it's not your first screw up.

Yeah. It's a bit of a mess. And his lack of remorse over what he's done doesn't sit well with his parents. Or anyone else.

As punishment, Zin's parents have told him they're shipping him off to this random place called Lillegard Academy to learn to control his powers better and interact with humans. He's never spent an extended amount of time outside of the Grand Citedal, and it's his parents hope that exposure to such diversity will teach their son more of what it means to be a god-fairy. (Whatever that means.)

Zin, always eager for new places and learning, happily agreed. He was so thrilled, in fact, his parents quickly realized they had to come up with a better punishment. So there's now a slight catch. Zin will face losing his powers altogether if he can't complete 500 wishes successfully by the time he returns home. And Zin has his reason's why he absolutely cannot let that happen. He also has his reasons why it might be better to take a good, long break from the faery citadel. Only time will tell if those secrets will rise to the surface.

So Zin is at the Lillegard Academy to learn magic and compassion. And, of course, there's his new mandatory wish quota to fulfill.

:bulletred: LIKES: :bulletred:
:bulletgreen: Meeting new people, making friends
:bulletgreen: Tasteful and memorable pranks
:bulletgreen: Encyclopedias
:bulletgreen: Belles, marbles, knick knacks, glittery things (basically things he can hoard, *COUGHS*)

:bulletred: DISLIKES: :bulletred:
:bulletgreen: Small spaces
:bulletgreen: Being Cold
:bulletgreen: Money

:bulletred: TO THE AALC STAFF :bulletred:

:bulletgreen: The godfaries are very culture specific, and I made up their culture. Therefore it's unlikely Zin would be raised with the same expectations/beliefs/customs/rituals/values as the other fairy groups you may currently have in residence. It is unlikely he would even identify as the same type of creature. He would more view the others as distant cousins, if anything.
:bulletgreen: I wanted to take a moment to emphasize my dislike for god-moding. I use Zin's gifts only as tools to create conflict and plot twists, and he's VERY inexperienced. Even for the most skilled god-fairies, gifts can go terribly wrong, and there is a good number of limits on this aspect of their magical natures. I dislike Gary-Sues and godmoding as much as the next roleplayer. I don't give him or anyone else easy ways out of problems.

:bulletred: CONCLUSION :bulletred:

That's a very short summary of Zin. But if I told you everything...it wouldn't be as much fun later down the road. :P And as I said, Zin functions best as an enigma. He has to have some mysteries for people to figure out.

Zin hasn't been accepted to the group yet, but we're hopeful.
